PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

The Campaign to Elect Jim Diodati (the Campaign) takes its obligation to protect your personal information seriously. Pursuant to The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), all organizations that collect, use and/or retain personal information in the regular course of business are required to implement a Privacy Policy and make concerned parties aware of what that policy is.

Information we collect.

In the normal course of conducting a campaign we collect certain specific information from people. Visitors to this website who wish to participate in our Survey, Question and Answer page or make inquiries of the Candidate will be required to provide their name and e-mail address. People wishing to participate in the Campaign as volunteers will be asked to provide their address, telephone number and/or e-mail address. Where a financial contribution to the Campaign has been made by way of credit card, we may also collect additional information required to process such payment. The Municipal Elections Act (MEA) for the province of Ontario requires that we collect and report specific information about most contributors regardless of how they contribute.

Your permission and awareness.

By providing this information, volunteers, contributors and those seeking to interact with the Campaign and/or the Candidate consent to the collection and use of this information for the purposes outlined herein.

How this information is used.

The information may be used in a number of ways. In the case of volunteers, it will be used to develop a database which allows the Campaign to communicate with them for the purpose of assignments and other follow-up. In the case of interactive visitors to the website, it will be used to respond to inquiries and to ensure that such visitors are genuinely and legitimately interested in the election and its outcome. In the case of contributors, their information will be included in the Financial Statement and Auditor’s Report as required by the MEA. This information will subsequently be made available to the public as required by law.

We do not sell or otherwise provide information which we have collected to a third party for any purpose. The Candidate may retain some of the information for use in a future campaign in the pursuit of elected office.

Retaining and protecting your information.

We maintain physical, electronic and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information.

The credit card information must be retained for a period of one year in case of any disputes regarding the charges made.   After such time has expired it will be appropriately destroyed.

We retain and securely store all information for a period of time as prescribed by law.  The Campaign is required to keep contributor information on file until a subsequent election is concluded.  Thereafter, all records will be  disposed of in a secure and confidential manner.

All volunteers working in the Campaign whose role requires that they use any information referred to herein have been made aware of our privacy policy and have agreed to abide by this policy insofar it applies to them.

To review the personal information we have on file or if you believe the information we have is incomplete, inaccurate or has been misused, please contact David Jex at the address, e-mail or telephone number listed elsewhere on this website.

The Ministry of Tourism invested $300,000 of taxpayers’ money in the 'Rink at the Brink'. How do you feel about the Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) decision to terminate this wonderful addition to the Winter Festival of Lights after just one year?
